Sreemangal is an upozila of Moulovibazar district in Sylhet Division.It is know as “Tea capital of Bangladesh” for it’s tea fields.However,this place is located at the southest of Moulovibazar.Tripura and Habiganj district is bordered by this. Beside tea,rubber,wood,lemon etc industries are also there.Thus,this place plays an important rule in the economy of Bangladesh.
What is the history behind Sreemangal:
Sreemangal was named after Sri Das and Mangal Das.They were two brothers who settled on the banks of Hail Haor.Morever,in an excavation at Lamua a statue name Ananta Narayan was dug out.Sreemangal thana was established in 1912.
Later,the town became pourashava in 1935.The first historical conflict was Balishira peasant riots in 1963.Lasltly,in 1971,cruel Pakistani army came to Sreemangal.They fired the houses and raped innocent women.They buried them in mass grave located in Bharaura.
Where is Sreemangal located:
Sreemangal is located at 24.3°N and 91.7°E.The total area is 450.73km².Also,total households are 65,165.Moulovibazar Sadar is at the north.Tripura at the south.Kamalganj at the east.Chunarughat,Nabiganj and Bahubal are at the west.
However,in Sylhet,Sreemangal has the extreme weather.Because,in winter the temperature fall below 10°C.In summer,the temperature increased to 33°C.The best time to visit Sreemangal is March,Nov and Oct.

From the last survey,total population of Sreemangal is 361,801.Total households are 80,595.About 9.3% of total population are under 5 years of age.Morever,total literacy rate of this place is 73.37%.Overall,sex ratio is 97 males for every 100 females.About 9.5% live in urban areas.
Majority of the people living there follow Islam.Others religions are also followed.Besides,Ethnic population is 4.3%.They are Santal,Garo,Khasi,Munda,Bhumij and Mahato.Victoria High School founded in 1924.Bhunabir Dashrath High school and college in 1896.Also, Jamia Luthfia Anwarul Uloom Hamidnagar is very famous Islamic center.
Sreemangal has nine union parishad.These are divided into 108 mauzas and 208 villages.

Lawachora National Park:
Based in Kamalganj upazila lawachora is located at the north.It is 8km from Sreemangal and about 60km from Sylhet.This place is known for it’s evergreen beauty.There are varieties of animals,plants,birds.It is the largest rainforest of Bangladesh.Bangladesh government declared lawachora as national park in 1996.
Morever,it is the most studied forest in Bangladesh.There are 160 species which are plants.Also,246 bird,20 mammal,17 insect,six reptile and four amphibian species are available.There is a sandy road covered by the forest.The iconic blue and yellow train’s way can blow the mind of tourists.
There are also food stalls beside the gate of lawachora.Tourists love the refreshing pinaples,seven colour tea and more.
Baikka beel:
Baikka beel is a sanctuary for various birds and fish.It is located in Moulovibazar district and a part of Hail Haor.It is also a part of wetland and has great natural beauty.The total area of the beel is 1000 hectares.There is also a beautiful swamp forest.Morever,this beel got declaration as bird and fish sanctuary in 2003.

Darjeeling tila:
The Bengali word Tila means small hill.However,Darjeeling Tila is located at Moulovibazar district.The distance is about 12km from sreemangal.The tila is at Radhanagar area 7 number section of MR khan tea garden.Morever,the total height of this is 300 feet.
This place looked like the tea garden of Darjeeling in India.Thus,residents named ut Darjeeling Tila.The curve of this tea garden and the hill view amaze the tourists.Through social media this place became very famous.Likewise,tourists who come to Sreemangal visit this place every time.
Hum Hum waterfall:
Hum Hum waterfall is locally known by Cheetah falls.It is located in Rajkandi forest,Kamalganj Upazila.It was discovered in 2009 and height is about 135-160 feet.Rainy season is the best time to enjoy this fall.
This place is full of natural beauty.Morever,sometimes tourists can hear the chirping of birds.Sometimes also hear animals voices.Sometimes colourful butterflies also appear.The water fall over the large rocks.
However,to go there first have to go Moulovibazar.Later,tourists can take small vehicles to reach Kamalganj.Then,after walkhin towards Kalabanpara can see the fall.
